(Reuters) – Serena Williams returns to the US Cup team for a qualifying event against Latvia next month, US United Tennis Association said Wednesday.
The 23-hour Grand Slam winner, who will start trying to match Margaret Court's record of 24 single titles at the opening of Australia next week, was last played for the United States in February 2018 after the birth of her daughter.
Williams's presence in Everett, Washington for the 7-8 February connection will be a great boost for the United States and the 38-year-old person put a perfect mark of 13-0 in single play and 3-2 in dolls in the chorn since 1999.
The winner goes on to the Fed 2020 Cup finals from April 14-19 in Budapest.
The Civil Service squad can include as many as five players and the final nominations must be made by 28 January.
