A shooting in the town of Lakeland, Florida, related to an alleged marijuana smuggling, left at least 10 people injured, two seriouslyaccording to local authorities.
The Lakeland Police Department, has not confirmed the arrest of those responsiblebut they suspect that four people are involved in the shooting and are looking for a vehicle.
The shooting occurred in Lakeland, a city located in Polk County, in central Florida, where authorities found two victims with serious injuriesplus seven other people with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to authorities, officers responded this afternoon to a call near Iowa Avenue North and Plum Street where they later transferred the two victims with critical injuries to a hospital where they are undergoing emergency surgery.
“One is in surgery and the other is in surgery or is headed for surgery,” Lakeland Police Chief Sam Taylor said at a Facebook news conference.
Preliminary investigations suggest that four people from within a blue sedan car several people were shot.
Authorities consider that it is an intentional and directed shooting and not a random one.
Likewise, he explained that a large quantity of marijuana was found at the scene of the shooting, but so far it is unknown if she is related to the attack.
Taylor, formerly a supervisor with the Lakeland Police Department’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations, said that he was surprised that this would happen in a traditionally quiet community.
“This is something that doesn’t happen in Lakeland. Maybe we’re not a small town anymore. It’s actually quite sad,” she declared.
