For one week, on the occasion of Pride Week, the light columns on the forecourt of the Landhaus in Bregenz will shine in the rainbow colors.

On the occasion of Pride Week, which starts today (Monday, June 21), State Councilor Katharina Wiesflecker invited the equality spokespersons from the parliamentary groups and representatives of the LGBTIG community to a reception in front of the Landhaus. As a commitment by the state government against any form of sexual discrimination, the light pillars on the country house forecourt were illuminated in the rainbow colors. “The pillars will illuminate the square for the whole week as a symbol of diversity and tolerance in our society,” said Wiesflecker.

In June, numerous events and parades under the sign of the rainbow flag are held around the world, including in Vorarlberg, where a dedicated team has been organizing Pride Week since 2016. “I would like to thank the representatives of the various associations for their commitment,” said State Councilor Wiesflecker. “Especially the GoWest association and the CSD Bregenz team do a lot here on a voluntary basis to fight for equality and anti-discrimination.”

In the work program of the Vorarlberg state government there is a clear commitment against any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation. In close cooperation with the associations and institutions concerned, the Department for Women and Equality is developing an action plan to take further steps towards anti-discrimination. “The motion on this topic passed by all parliamentary groups in the state parliament supports me in this task,” said State Councilor Wiesflecker, pleased with the broad political expression of will.

A varied and exciting program takes place during Pride Week. More information on this at
