Singer Toots And The Maytals died, lying in hospital with a suspicion of covid-19

“It is announced with a heavy heart that Frederick Nathaniel ´Toots´ Hibbert left tonight surrounded by his family at the University Hospital of West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica,” his deputy said, adding that family and management thanked medical teams and doctors. He did not mention the cause of death, wrote The Guardian.

Toots and The Maytals were among the pioneers of reggae with Bob Marley and his Wailers. It got its name from their 1968 single Do The Reggay. The band also composed and recorded hits 54-46 (That’s My Number), Pressure Drop and Monkey Man.
