Sluggers Yordan Alvarez and Kyle Schwarber named MLB Players of the Month

The Latin American players swept this Saturday with the monthly prizes of June in the Major Leagues, with special highlights of Cuban Yordan Álvarez (Astros) for the American League and Kyle Schwarber (Phillies) for the National.

Álvarez finished with a .418 batting average last month, with nine home runs and 28 RBIs, in addition to receiving 13 walks.

The Cuban, second in the Majors with 23 homers, is fifth in RBIs with 56.

For his part, slugger Schwarber has become the main axis of the Phillies’ offense by hitting .272 on average with 12 homers and 27 RBIs in June.

The Dominican Julio Rodríguez, of the Seattle Mariners, was chosen Rookie of the Month by the American League, while fellow outfielder Michale Harris II, of the champion Atlanta Braves, was chosen by the National League.

Rodríguez, 21, averaged .280 on that journey with seven homers, 16 RBIs, 22 runs scored and five stolen bases.
