BOLZANO. The first case of monkeypox is also confirmed in South Tyrol. The affected person – informs the health authority – had presented himself yesterday (21 June) at the emergency room of the Bolzano hospital complaining of the typical symptoms of the disease.
Today, June 22, 2022, the diagnostic suspicion was confirmed thanks to a molecular swab. The person had recently returned from a trip to one of the countries deemed at risk. The epidemiological investigation has already started for the tracing of close contacts.
The patient is currently admitted to the Infectious Diseases Department with non-serious and stable clinical conditions.
