Pete Davidson seems to be joking as he suggests on a "Saturday Night Live" promotion. And former fiancée Ariana Grande is not thrilled.

Pete Davidson gets some heat because he made fun of a former Navy SEAL Congress candidate who lost his eye in the war.

During this week's "Saturday Night Live" episode, the new single Davidson dropped by the "Weekend Update" desk to give his "first impressions" of several "brutal" candidates running for office in the midterm elections.

After making jokes about Florida Governor Rick Scott and US Rep. Peter King (New York), Davidson targeted Republican Dan Crenshaw, whose image appeared on-screen.

"You'll be surprised to hear that he's a Texas Congress candidate and not a batting man in a pornographic movie," the comedian said, fighting the laughter. "I'm sorry, I know, he lost his eye in the war or whatever, whatever."

Crenshaw, who wants to fight for the representation of the 2nd Congressional District of Texas, lost his right eye during his third deployment in 2012 due to an IED attack in Afghanistan. The Navy SEAL was deployed twice more overseas in 2014 and 2016, after seeing her bad eye again damaged left eye, according to his website.

Davidson also shot New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to "look fair" before mocking Republican Congressional candidate Greg Pence, the elder brother of Vice President Mike Pence, and even himself.

Alec Baldwin appeared on "Saturday Night Live," but not as President Donald Trump. The actor was the joke on the show after being arrested on Friday.

However, the comments on Crenshaw left a lasting impression on many social media users who found his jokes "classless" and "disgusting".

The National Republican Congressional Committee downed Davidson in a devastating statement mentioning the comedian's broken engagement with Ariana Grande.

"Being released from your pop star girlfriend is no excuse for hitting a decorated war hero who has lost his eye for our country," said NRCC spokesman Jack Pandol in a statement released on Twitter. "Pete Davidson and NBC should apologize to Dan immediately and to the millions of veterans and military families who come in every weekend – because they do not laugh."

Meghan McCain, daughter of late war hero Sen. John McCain, said Davidson's controversial comments were "offensive to veterans, their families and all who serve".
