Munich (dpa / lby) – A Bavarian duel at the start: The new season of the 2nd Bundesliga will open on Friday, September 18 (6.30 p.m.) with the delightful test of strength between SSV Jahn Regensburg and 1. FC Nürnberg . SpVgg Greuther Fürth will host VfL Osnabrück on matchday 1. Newcomer Würzburger Kickers begins with a home game against Erzgebirge Aue. These two games have not yet been scheduled by the German Football League on Friday.
The new coach Robert Klauß makes his home debut with the “Club” on matchday 2 against SV Sandhausen. This is followed by another home game against Darmstadt 98 for the recently almost relegated Franconia. The Frankenderby against Fürth is scheduled for the ninth matchday in the Max Morlock Stadium.
The Würzburg team will play their first upward game on matchday two against Bundesliga relegated Fortuna Düsseldorf. Fürth is a guest in Aue, Regensburg in Darmstadt. Because of the Corona crisis, the second division season starts much later than originally planned. Only 13 game days will be played by Christmas. Instead, the season will continue on January 2nd without a major winter break.
The new season begins for the four Bavarian second division clubs from September 11 to 14 with the first DFB Cup main round.
