Freiburg (dpa) – Bundesliga soccer club SC Freiburg has signed midfielder Daniel Kofi-Kyereh. The 26-year-old comes from the second division club FC St. Pauli and is due to join coach Christian Streich’s team in the coming week, as the Breisgauer announced on Monday evening.
In Hamburg, Kyereh, who had 12 caps for Ghana, was one of the top performers last season with 12 goals and 10 assists. Confidentiality was agreed about the contract term and the terms of the transfer, it said.
“Kofi has an exceptional amount of creativity with the ball, is intelligent and goal-oriented. These qualities will help us and do our game good,” said board member Jochen Saier. “He is a player who has developed step by step over the past few years and has quickly adapted to each level.”
In addition to the Europa League participant from Baden-Württemberg, Werder Bremen, Borussia Mönchengladbach and VfB Stuttgart also tried to win Kyereh.
