Soccer – Freiburg im Breisgau – Freiburg coach Streich warns of BVB defiant reaction – sport

Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – Twelve defeats and three draws – that’s the sobering record of Christian Streich after 15 games against Borussia Dortmund as head coach of SC Freiburg. In addition, BVB is the only Bundesliga club that the longest-serving coach in the league has never won. “I know, that’s why it’s definitely in the back of my head, but I don’t have it in the front of my head,” said Streich on Thursday. And yet he fears that on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky) there could be another defeat in Dortmund.

“If you’ve heard Julian Brandt’s interview, you know what to expect,” said the SC coach. Dortmund will “tear itself apart in terms of running and fighting to make the game in Augsburg look like a slip-up”.

Brandt gave the interview after losing the Supercup final at Bayern on Wednesday evening, but the national player worried much more about the 2-0 defeat the previous weekend in Augsburg. “When a team like Dortmund loses 2-0 in Augsburg, you know what’s going on during the week,” warned Streich. “I would have preferred if they had won 2-0.”

For him, the game at FCA was also more important for preparation. “It was tactically interesting for us how they did it,” explained Streich. He doesn’t want to take the fact that Augsburg were successful with only 20 percent possession as a role model, “but if we win with only 18 percent, then I would take that too, I’m pragmatic.”

The fact that the FCA defeated Dortmund with a 4-4-2, however, could indicate that the Freiburg team is also maintaining the tactic with which they drew against Wolfsburg on Sunday. More decisive, however, will be “the speed in the head and in the legs,” said Streich, especially when the Dortmund team “turn on the turbo after winning the ball – Sancho and Haaland are extremely fast”.
