Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – SC Freiburg will play in the Europa-Park Stadium in the future. The amusement park in Rust, around 40 kilometers from Freiburg, has been a sponsor of the Bundesliga soccer team for almost 30 years and is now expanding its commitment. If the sports club moves to the new venue in October as planned, the stadium at Wolfswinkel will become the Europa-Park stadium.
As usual, both partners have agreed not to disclose how much the amusement park can cost the naming rights and for how long it was negotiated. “It’s a long-term contract, that’s right and important, not to change every two years,” said SC board member Oliver Leki on Tuesday.
The move to the new stadium, which was originally planned at the beginning of the season, has been delayed due to technical problems in the new building. In mid-October, the sports club wants to play against RB Leipzig for the first time in the Bundesliga in the new stadium. Before that, there will be a ceremony and a friendly match against the second division club FC St. Pauli during the international break on October 7th, as Leki announced.
