Sonos brings Alexa support to Switzerland

February 5, 2023 –
Sonos has announced that it is expanding support for Amazon Alexa voice control to more countries, including Switzerland.

Multi-room speaker manufacturer Sonos has announced that it will be expanding support for Amazon’s Alexa voice control to other countries, with Switzerland being one of these countries. It will soon be possible to control Sonos speakers using Alexa. In addition to English, Sonos also lists German, French, Italian and Spanish as supported languages.

Alexa support allows music or TV content to be controlled via Sonos. For example, you can give the command “Alexa, play jazz” or “Alexa, pause the movie”, with support for Amazon Music, Spotify and Tunein for music streaming and Amazon Prime Video and Netflix for video streaming. You can also use voice commands to set the alarm, add calendar entries, ask about the weather, create shopping lists or control the smart home.

As Sonos writes, Alexa support in Switzerland and 26 other countries will be installed free of charge on compatible Sonos speakers by means of a software update this spring. (mw)
