Today, Sony announced the Xperia 1 IV, the latest model of the niche smartphone with 4K display and unique photography capabilities.
Just like its predecessor, the Sony Xperia 1 IV should appeal to a specific target group. On the one hand, it consists of the real entertainment enthusiast who likes to experience his or her films and series in the best possible quality. That means watching in 120Hz 4K HDR with an aspect ratio of 21:9, which gives the smartphone its remarkably tall design, and listening with full-stage stereo speakers with support for 360 Reality Audio. Ideal in combination with the new Bravia Core for Xperia streaming service, which we still know from televisions such as the Sony A90J.
Professional photo technology
On the other hand, there is the photography enthusiast who can enjoy an optical telephoto zoom lens of 85-125mm in addition to an ultrawide lens of 16mm and a 24mm. The camera technology comes from the a9, the professional Sony camera that is especially popular with sports photographers. This gives you access to Real-time Eye AF (eye autofocus) and Real-time tracking (following your subject). By combining a depth sensor and AI, the autofocus does not disappoint even in low light. 20fps burst with AE (auto exposure)/AF in HDR is possible for all three lenses. You can take 4K selfies with the 12-megapixel front camera, four times more than with the Xperia 1 III.
Something for every content creator
However, Sony wants to appeal to all types of content creators and video is therefore very important. The Xperia 1 IV allows you to record 4K HDR 120fps video with all lenses and that with extra stability thanks to Optical SteadyShot with Flawless Eye. Multi-frame shooting is also possible for a wider dynamic range.
It doesn’t stop there, though, because your content also needs to be seen, which is why live streaming functionality is provided via the Videography Pro app. In combination with the Vlog Monitor from Sony, you can ensure that you can use the rear cameras to film in the highest resolution. If it’s a little more, you can also opt for the Cinematography Pro app, which gives access to professional parameters and color settings. If making music is more your thing, then there is Music Pro app, which uses the cloud to enable high-quality music recordings. In this way noise can be removed and sound sources can be separated.
Also for gamers
You can play games on more than the PlayStation 5, so the Xperia 1 IV has useful gaming features in the form of a 120Hz screen, 240Hz motion blur reduction and 240Hz touch scanning rate. The game enhancer function is equipped with Ly (low gamma) raiser, audio equalizer and voice chat optimization. Optimally matched to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Elite Gaming, the Xperia 1 IV also includes a “Heat Suppression power control (HS power control)” feature to counteract performance loss and battery degradation due to high temperatures. Of course you can also do live streaming here, with or without a cable via PC.
