Sony has his new Android smartphone Xperia XZ2 Premium presented. The device is a technically improved in some parts version of the presented at the Mobile World Congress 2018 mobile phone Xperia XZ2 , The most noticeable changes affect the camera and the display.
City of Munich, Munich
Controlware GmbH, Dietzenbach near Frankfurt am Main
In the Xperia XZ2 Premium Sony installed for the first time in one of his smartphones a main camera with two lenses. The Xperia XZ2 as well as that Xperia XZ2 Compact still have a simple camera. Sony had already announced the development of its own dual camera in the run-up to the MWC 2018 and at the mobile radio trade fair first prototype shown ,
New camera brings high photosensitivity
A key feature of the dual camera is the light sensitivity: The combination of a 19-megapixel color sensor and a monochrome 12-megapixel sensor reaches Sony, a photosensitivity of 51,200 ISO for photos and 12,800 ISO for videos. The image quality should be much better than photosensitive images of the competition. This should be made possible by Sony’s new Aube image sensor.
At the MWC 2018 we already got a first impression of the technology. A very dark scene was actually lit very well with the help of the new dual camera module, which is why details were very well recognizable.
The Xperia XZ2 Premium camera, like the Xperia XZ2, can record slow motion pictures at 960 fps. However, with the new smartphone Full HD resolution is possible and not just 720p. The camera can record HDR videos. The front camera of the Xperia XZ2 Premium has 13 megapixels, that of the Xperia XZ2 has only 5 megapixels.

High resolution display
Sony has also improved the display. For the Xperia XZ2 Premium, the 5.8 inches 0.1 inch screen is larger than the Xperia XZ2. But more important is the resolution: This is the new model 3.840 x 2.160 and is higher than the Xperia XZ2. The display is HDR-ready, so users can watch their own HDR videos directly on their smartphones in HDR.
The main memory of the new model is 6 GB, the internal flash memory 64 GB. A slot for micro SD cards is installed. The battery has a nominal charge of 3,540 mAh and thus almost 400 mAh more than the Xperia XZ2.
The rest of the hardware is the same as the Xperia XZ2: Inside the Xperia XZ2 Premium, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 is one of the most powerful SoCs available today. The smartphone dominates Cat18-LTE, Bluetooth runs in version 5.0. Also in the new model, Sony has installed the Dynamic Vibration System, which makes low frequencies felt as vibrations. The device is delivered with Android 8.0 aka Oreo.
Sony has not yet mentioned a price for the Xperia XZ2 Premium. The smartphone will certainly be more expensive than the Xperia XZ2, which costs 800 euros in Germany.
