Sony has just unveiled another Xperia top model, just over six months after the two previous top models, Xperia 1 III and Xperia Pro-I.
Stepless zoom
The newcomer does not unexpectedly increase the number of Romans to IV (4) and is the first mobile phone with a stepless zoom lens.
Admittedly, you can not zoom steplessly from the inside to the outside – it is the telephoto lens that allows you to zoom steplessly from 3.5-5.2x, or the equivalent of 85-125 mm. The aperture here is f / 2.3-2.8.

Other than that, the phone also has an ultra wide angle camera (~ 16 mm) and a wide angle camera (~ 24 mm) as on previous models.
All three cameras can record video with 4K resolution and 120 frames per second. Like its predecessors, the Xperia 1 IV also has eye autofocus and can take continuous shooting with HDR, autofocus and auto exposure at a rate of 20 frames per second, which is lightning fast.
Coming in June
Otherwise, the phone has hardware from the top shelf. A 120 Hz OLED screen with 4K resolution, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, 12 GB working memory (RAM), 256 GB storage space (+ memory card support) and 5000 mAh battery. The phone is also IP68 certified to withstand water. Yes, in fact you will also find here a 3.5 mm audio output, which is mostly in short supply on the top models from other manufacturers.
The phone will be on store shelves from 14 June, at a suggested retail price of NOK 13,490. If you pre-purchase the product from 12 May, you get a pair of WH-1000XM4 with the purchase.
