PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) – Doctors and health officials are trying to find out why overdoses were observed within 24 hours in Philadelphia.
Three people died of apparent overdose of opioids. This number is consistent with a typical day in the city.
But health officials say Saturday night they saw an increase in how many people overdose.
More than 100 overdoses in just over 24 hours are alarming, even for those who work with it every day.
The good news is that Narcan was used and more people survived. However, they were described as unusually aggressive.
The big question is why? Was it just a super powerful load of stuff? Was it all a bad mix? Or was it something that was not heroin or opioid?
Emergency physicians, health professionals, treatment lawyers and even some heroin users say something is wrong. It's definitely out of the norm.
