Steven Gerrard announced transfer to Chelsea to complete Thomas Tuchel’s dream midfielder

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has inadvertently told Chelsea how to complete Thomas Tuchel’s dream midfield.

During a quick interview with Rio Ferdinand, the Liverpool legend explained that he is a fan of Chelsea midfielders Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic: “I love Jude Bellingham, I absolutely love him,” he said. -he declares. “Kevin De Bruyne, without a shadow of a doubt. I will attack players. I love Mason Mount what he does. Kovacic to Chelsea. I like Fabinho at Liverpool and I like Rodri. »

Interestingly though, he mentioned Borussia Dortmund star and England international Bellingham, who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for some time. The 18-year-old has shone since moving to Germany in 2020 for around £22million.

As Mount and Kovacic are currently two of the best midfielders in world football, at least according to Gerrard, the addition of Bellingham could help Tuchel secure a more rounded midfield in the future – especially since N’Golo Kante is aging and his long-term future in west London is uncertain with just one year remaining on his contract.

With the club’s takeover set to be completed in the coming weeks following the club’s announcement that a deal is in place for Todd Boehly’s consortium to take control, Chelsea will finally be able to buy players. Bellingham is someone who is likely to be on his radar as he looks to bolster his options in the middle of the park.

The Blues could however have their work cut out for them. That’s because according to the Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Dortmund will not allow Bellingham to leave this summer after the exit of Erling Haaland. Whether that means Chelsea will have to wait to sign him remains to be seen, but testing the waters with an offer may be worth it.
