Strictly Come Dancing has apparently increased safety after Katie Piper's acid attacker was reportedly released.

In 2008, Katie's ex-boyfriend Stefan Sylvestre paid to throw her acid on the street. Sylvestre was imprisoned for life in 2009.

It is said that he was released from Highpoint Prison in Suffolk on Wednesday.

The BBC show is said to have increased Piper's security after the news.

One source told The Sun, "Sylvestre's licensing terms include an exclusion zone that bans him from an area around Katie's address.

"Any attempt to approach the Strictly studios in Hertfordshire would most likely take him to jail immediately.

"But though Sylvestre is in no way associated with Katie, the fact that he's back in London will be very important to her."

The attack left Katie with permanent scars on the face, neck, chest, arms and hands and partially blinded. She has since had over 300 operations.

The mother of two previously said that she finds the "Strictly Experience" "overwhelming" while experiencing so much in her personal life.

"If the lyrics are emotional, that's tough," she told The Mirror.

"I have experienced many things in my personal life, legal things, and I think it has become psychologically overwhelming to me.

Katie went on to say, "I get very emotional on Mondays and Tuesdays, it's always then I want to storm in a tantrum and cry because it's a new routine and song, it's so overwhelming."

During the presentation, the author showed that she had received support from her surgeon.

Katie said, "I got the nicest text from my burner that says, 'Wow, my patient, who once learned to walk again, is dancing now'.

"It was a place I never thought of, I will give everything.
