Supergirl rose at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday as the series's series of series made some notable revelations.
First, the first trailer for Supergirl Season 4 was revealed, which was shown above.
The clip teases how the story progresses in the new episodes with Kara / Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), who returned to Earth after keeping her mother Alura (Erica Durance) alive in Argo City. Kara, now accepting her humanity and connected to her past, seems stronger and more resilient than ever before – and that's what National City citizens need when Agent Liberty (Sam Witwer) and his children of freedom roll into the city.
Second, the CW announced that Jericho and The Last Ship actress April Parker Jones will play Supergirl Season 4 in a series regular role. ComicBook.com wants Jones to bring to life a character named Colonel Haley, who is described as a "die-hard military fighter living and dying by command of her commanders," and whose loyalty to her country she "always" conducts acts in her best interests, even if that means acting against their own. "
Also in the new season is David Ajala, who will perform again this year in Syfy's horror series Nightflyers. Ajala will play Manchester Black, a man with a dark past and a dangerously irresistible charm and sense of humor, the guy who "makes a knife a shootout and still leaves the winner."
Supergirl Season 3 ended on a cliffhanger, revealing a Kara doppelganger living in Russia. Season 4 is said to be inspired by DC Comics' Red Son story, in which Superman lands on a Ukrainian farm instead of Kansas. Color us fascinated.
Supergirl will return to the CW for season four on October 14th.
