Sutep teachers marched to Congress demanding an increase in the budget for the education sector

Dozens of teachers from the Unitary Union of Education Workers of Peru (Sutep) arrived at Congress as part of a demonstration that takes place – they assured – at the national level.

The teachers demand, among other things, that 6% of the Gross Domestic Product (PBI) to the education sector, as well as the annulment of the questioned appointment examination.

The teachers, who carried banners, banners and even cicadas, took up positions in one of the lanes of Abancay Avenue, where they held a sit-in.

The teachers’ demonstration takes place while the head of the Cabinet, Mirtha Vasquez, and the Minister of Economy, Pedro Francke, exposing the 2022 Budget.

It is worth mentioning that the president of the Congress, Maria del Carmen Alva, received a delegation of teachers to listen to their demands during the plenary recess.

Criticism of Castillo

The teachers in the mobilization have also expressed their displeasure with the Government, ensuring that the president Pedro Castillo it has not fulfilled the electoral promises of the campaign with the education sector.

The demonstration has blocked traffic in one of the lanes of Abancay Avenue, so there is traffic congestion in the area.
