The evaluation phase of Switzerland's ongoing hunting evaluation for a new-generation fighter is underway. The current flight tests follow a previous exercise in which Swiss officials tested the aircraft models involved in simulators in the countries of each manufacturer.
The recent competition involves five fighters, a restart of the Tiger Partial Replacement (TTE), which crashed after a referendum on 18 May 2014. These include the Eurofighter Typhoon, the Dassault Rafale, the Boeing F / A-18E / F Super Hornet, the Lockheed Martin F-35A and the Saab Gripen E.
The flight and ground tests for the five participants will be carried out in alphabetical order of the manufacturers (Airbus, Boeing, Dassault, Lockheed Martin and finally Saab) at the end of June / beginning of July. The German-British Airbus team will be under the microscope for the first half of April, followed by Boeing at the end of the month.
British @ Royal Air Force @ 41RTES Typhoons have arrived #Payerne in favor of @AirbusDefence Offer for the Swiss Fighter Competition. British Tranche 3 jets with P3E software are currently the most advanced operating versions and are therefore used in the evaluation. https://t.co/0m87DgrrQJ

As part of its "Air 2030" program, Switzerland is pursuing a comprehensive approach to the modernization of air defense. This program includes the replacement of the aging fleet of the Swiss Air Force, the F-5 Tiger and F / A-18 Hornet fighter aircraft and the ground-based anti-aircraft architecture.
The aim is to bring a new air defense network and a new fighter aircraft platform fully online by 2030, with the intention of announcing the procurement process in the early 2020s and the first operational capability (IOC) of the new fighter aircraft by 2025.
Procurement of the 30-40 new fighter aircraft is expected to generate $ 6 billion of the total $ 8.2 billion earmarked for the program.
According to the Air 2030 concept, government officials want to make at least four interceptor aircraft available at all times.
