Ten new cases of measles were detected in Moldova in a month

Specialists from the National Public Health Agency have identified ten new cases of measles since early October. In another six cases, measles is suspected, Moldpres reports, citing the press service of the National Public Health Agency.
According to the spokeswoman for the ministry Olesya Croitor, three cases of measles were registered in Chisinau, seven in the Soroca region.
Since the beginning of this year, 312 measles cases have been reported in Moldova. A significant increase in the number of diseases recorded in August – 239 confirmed cases.
On October 19, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection changed the orange code for measles infection to yellow. According to the ministry, in August and September almost 50 thousand children were vaccinated against measles in Moldova, and the overall vaccination rate in the country reached 95%.
In the Republic of Moldova, vaccination is carried out with a combination vaccine against measles, mumps and rubella (ROR) at the age of one year, 6-7 years and 14-15 years. Vaccination in our country is free.
In Moldova, the vaccination situation has seriously deteriorated over the past 10 years: in 2008, according to the National Center for Health, 94.4% of children were vaccinated in the country, and in 2016 – 85%. The lowest level of vaccination in Chisinau, Balti and Transnistria. Now the vaccination level is 95%, in August-September the number of vaccinated children reached 47,242 people.
