Texas GOP rejects 2020 election results, calls homosexuality ‘abnormal’ | Your Political City Austin

Supporters of the Texas Republican Party gathered in person for their state convention over the weekend and took a series of actions that have become the party’s official platform, including rejecting the 2020 election results and declaring the homosexuality an ‘abnormal lifestyle choice’.

“We reject the certified results of the 2020 Presidential Election and hold that Acting President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was not lawfully elected by the people of the United States,” the resolution says.

President Biden won the 2020 election because he got the most votes from the electoral colleges, 306 against the 232 that former President Donald Trump added. However, former President Trump and his supporters continue to say that he won and that there was a “fraud”.

For his part, the candidate for governor of Texas, Beto O’Rourke, reacted through his social networks. “Abolish abortion, defund public schools, repeal gun laws, deny voting rights, refuse legalization of marijuana…we will not allow Greg Abbott’s Texas to be our future,” she posted.

Texas GOP adopts an anti-LGBTQ platform

The party’s platform document in Texas includes a section that calls homosexuality “an abnormal lifestyle choice” and opposes “all efforts to validate transgender identity.” It also includes a section stating that the state’s Republican party is against granting special legal status to gay men and women.

“It is clear that inclusion wins, which makes the decision by the leaders of the Texas Republican Party to exclude Log Cabin Republican from their convention not only narrow-minded, but also politically short-sighted,” said the group’s president, Charles Moran, in a statement on social media.

Last year, Texas passed a law banning transgender youth from participating in sports, and Gov. Greg Abbott directed state officials to investigate parents of transgender children who allow their children to undergo gender-affirming care.
