King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and his wife Queen Máxima have been on a trip to Germany since the beginning of this week. On the first day of their visit, the program included a state banquet in Bellevue Palace, where not only greats from politics such as Jens Spahn and Frank-Walter Steinmeier, but also Sylvie Meis surprised with a glamorous appearance.

The 43-year-old was personally welcomed by the Dutch royal couple and raved after a short chat: “As a proud native Dutch woman who lives happily in her adopted country of Germany, I can only say that I was deeply honored.”
Invitation from the Federal President
She was invited by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender to the state banquet, “because as a Dutchwoman I worked in the media for a long time and still work,” Meis explained in an interview with RTL. On the way to the banquet, she was also quite nervous, admits the 43-year-old. The meeting itself felt like “in a movie”.

Today, Wednesday, the Dutch royal couple will end their three-day state visit to Berlin. Before that, the two of them want to find out more about key technologies at the Technical University. After a stay in the Herzberge Landscape Park, which is about environmental education for children, they visit the Humboldt Forum. Then the two royals start their return journey.
