TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -Chairman of the Indonesian Transport Workers Union (SPAI) Lily Pujiati explained that there are still many online ojek or ojol drivers who complain that the applicator cuts more than 15 percent. The 15 percent discount is regulated in the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number KP 667 of 2022 which comes into effect on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
“They (ojol drivers) keep going, later when it gets worse SPAI will invite a national strike. In Bekasi, the action to take to the streets has been carried out in other areas,” he said when contacted on Thursday, September 15, 2022.
According to Lily, although the Kepmenhub regulation states that the cut is only 15 percent, the average applicator still cuts more than 20 percent. SPAI, he said, also opened a report channel regarding the violation of the applicator.
As of yesterday, 525 reports have been submitted, from various regions including Bali, Sulawesi, Jambi, Palembang, Bandung, Malang, Sidoarjo, Medan, Banten, Karawang, and others. “Ojol drivers still take the bitter pill. Social assistance is just a sweet promise,” he said.
According to Lily, the current income of motorcycle taxi drivers has also decreased drastically. He gave an example that drivers usually get eight orders, currently at most they get five orders from 8.00 to 18.00.
This, he said, created a dilemma for online motorcycle taxi drivers. Because the income of online motorcycle taxi drivers can be reduced by about 50 percent. “The price of fuel oil (BBM) has increased, applicators are still violating the rules by increasing the discount at will by more than 15 percent. The increase in tariffs will benefit the applicator, not the driver,” said Lily.
