Residents of a city in Egypt were shocked to discover quantities of minced meat made from egg cartons, sparking a wave of panic in the country. The health department in Dikirnis city in Dakahlia governorate received complaints from Egyptians confirming that a car sold minced cardboard inside colored packages as meat in one of the city’s main streets.
A campaign from the Directorate of Health went to the location of the complaint and had already seized frozen meat of doubtful suitability for human consumption, as well as other meat that had changed in its natural properties, and accordingly all products were seized according to seizure reports. The quantity in a total of 267 kilograms was confiscated, waxed with red wax, and samples were taken from it to be sent for examination in the Ministry of Health laboratories to determine its suitability for human use.
The arrest of a seller of frozen meat of questionable validity soon followed and when it was revealed, the shock was immense. Observatory Newspaper reported that the news quickly spread throughout the nation, causing a public outcry.
