THE BALL – Juveniles: Victory in the last ‘sigh’ for Sporting’s consecration (Sports)

To bring the curtain down on the national youth championship, already won by Sporting, the Sporting Academy hosted a classic against FC Porto that provided goals and a comeback for the greens and whites, who won 3-2.

Despite no longer playing for any competitive objective, FC Porto played for their own pride and took the lead, close to half-time, through a well-crafted throw-in for Tiago Andrade to finish.

Sporting returned prepared not to lose their unbeaten record at this stage of the competition and came on strong in the second half, managing to turn the tables around with two goals separated by the same number of minutes: Manuel Mendonça, with an accurate touch inside the area (72′), and Vivaldo Semedo (74′), with an excellent shot at the edge of the area, put the lions in front of the marker, but FC Porto did not give up.

Indeed, in the 84th minute, the blues and whites again equalized the match in a very good elevation of Luís Gomes in the small area for equality. However, Sporting wanted to celebrate… and they did it.

The clock was already ticking over 90+6 minutes when Adair Kandala successfully deflected the blue and white nets to the bottom, confirming the triumph for Sporting in the consecration meeting, after which the lions lifted the trophy.
