THE BALL – Official: Lille de Paulo Fonseca hires in Chaves (France)

Lille, owned by Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca, made official this Friday the signing of Brazilian central defender Alexsandro, 22, for five seasons from Chaves.

The amounts involved were not revealed, but as our newspaper had reported, the French club has already paid two million euros to the flavienses, a sum that can increase through some bonuses provided for by objectives. Chaves is also entitled to 20 percent of the capital gain of a future transfer.

Alexsandro started training at Flamengo and who in Portugal also wore the jerseys of Praiense and Amora, before Chaves, where he stayed only one season.

“I am very happy, it is a dream come true for me and my family. Lille is a great club. I’m looking forward to getting started”, he told the French emblem’s media.

The president of the ‘Dogues’, Olivier Letang, defended that Alexsandro «is a young player with a lot of potential» and that «despite the interest of many clubs, he chose Lille».

Chaves also issued a communiqué:

«Grupo Desportivo de Chaves – Futebol, SAD informs that it has reached an agreement with LOSC Lille, from France, for the permanent transfer of Alexsandro Ribeiro, safeguarding its interests in a future sale.

During the 2021-22 season, Alexsandro played 34 games for GD Chaves, scored 3 goals and was a pillar of the Trás-os-Montes team on their return to the Bwin League.

The quality, delivery and willingness of the player impressed, but this Man left a mark on each of us.
