The Regional Government of Madeira decided to suspend for 30 days all regional competitions of all modalities, one of the many measures determined to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.
The announcement was made this Wednesday by the chief executive, Miguel Albuquerque, by videoconference, where he also confirmed the closure of the nightclubs in the archipelago.
“There is still a lot of negligent behavior in the face of this serious threat”, he said, at a time when the region has 197 active infections, having confirmed the first death by Covid-19 in Madeira three days ago.
The closing of bars and similar establishments will start at 24 am, while the restaurant will close at 11 pm. “Whether in restaurants, bars or the like, customers will not be allowed to remain inside the establishments after they are closed”, confirmed Miguel Albuquerque, ensuring that all establishments will be subject to “strict inspection”.
The measures will take effect from midnight next Friday.
