THE BALL – Serena Williams defeated on her return to the big stages a year later (Tennis)

After a year away from the circuit (the last presence had been in the first round of the last edition of Wimbledon), the American Serena Williams returned, this Tuesday, to the big stages – her return to the circuit had been made in Eastbourne, in pairs, alongside Ons Jabeur – but missed the second round of the London Grand Slam.

No court All England Club main Serena Williams lost to French Harmony Tan (115th WTA) with the partials of 5-7, 6-1 and 6-7 (7-10), in more than three hours of play.

At 40, Serena, currently 411th in the WTA rankings and seven-time Wimbledon winner, is still looking to equal Margaret Court’s record of 24 Grand Slams.
