486. Assault offense – Sendling-Westpark
On Sunday, March 19, 2023, at around 11:10 p.m., a 19-year-old resident of Munich was on the 18 tram. The 19-year-old got off the tram at the “Stegener Weg” stop and walked down Westendstrasse continue in the direction of the rose garden. At the level of the parking lot there, a previously unknown male person approached the 19-year-old and repeatedly hit her in the head with a previously unknown object. The 19-year-old then fell to the ground and was kicked by the perpetrator. The 19-year-old’s cries for help drew the attention of a passer-by to the attack and came to the 19-year-old’s aid. The perpetrator then left the 19-year-old and fled.
The passer-by immediately informed the emergency services and the police and took care of the injured 19-year-old.
Immediately initiated search measures by the Munich police with almost 20 strips did not result in any indication of the perpetrator.
The 19-year-old sustained multiple injuries in the attack. The 19-year-old was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.
During this attack, the perpetrator took the 19-year-old’s mobile phone with him.
Commissariat 15 (sexual offences) took over the further investigations.
The perpetrator was described as follows:
Male, about 30 years old, possibly Indian appearance, three-day beard; longer black jacket, white FFP-2 mask, light-colored hat

487. Larger police operation – Freimann
On Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023, at around 6:10 p.m., the Munich police received several reports that there was a person on the platform at the Freimann underground station there who was holding a pistol and fired several shots from this weapon released air. As a result, almost 20 Munich police patrols drove to the site.
In the meantime, other passers-by reported via the police emergency call that the suspect’s gun was being reloaded again and again. On site, the first arriving patrols could hear shots. In order to rule out any danger to other passers-by, the subway service was stopped.
The suspect (a 39-year-old resident of Munich) was overpowered by the police officers on the platform and arrested. The suspect and other bystanders were not injured during the operation. The 39-year-old appeared mentally disturbed when the police measures were carried out. He was placed in a hospital with psychiatric care by the police because of his dangerous behavior. The stun gun was secured. The 39-year-old did not have a gun license for this weapon. An on-site breath alcohol test was positive. There was no threat to uninvolved passers-by in this context.
The Munich criminal police have taken over further investigations into violations of the Weapons Act.
488. Traffic accident between a bicycle and a car; one person injured – Laim
On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at around 9:30 p.m., a 57-year-old resident of Munich drove a Seat car down Perhamer Strasse in the direction of Fürstenrieder Strasse. At the intersection with Fürstenrieder Strasse, he wanted to turn right and continue in the direction of Agnes-Bernauer-Strasse.
At the same time, a 54-year-old resident of Munich was with a mountain bike in the area where Fürstenrieder Strasse converged.
The two vehicles collided at the junction with Fürstenrieder Straße. The car hit the bike head-on, causing the 54-year-old to fall. The 54-year-old suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital by paramedics.
Both vehicles were slightly damaged. The total damage is estimated at almost 1,000 euros.
There were no traffic delays during the accident investigation.
The Munich traffic police took over the further investigations.

489. Traffic accident between tram and bicycle; one person seriously injured – Giesing
On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at around 2:50 p.m., a 75-year-old resident of Munich rode a bicycle on Kurzstrasse in a southeasterly direction and approached the intersection with Grünwalder Strasse.
At the same time, a number 25 tram was running south-west on Grünwalder Straße.
The cyclist drove into the intersection. Despite an immediate emergency braking by the tram, there was a collision.
The cyclist’s head was thrown against the windscreen of the tram. He suffered head injuries as a result. He was not wearing a bicycle helmet in the accident. The rescue service then took him to a Munich hospital for further treatment.
Traffic was only slightly disrupted while the accident was being recorded
The total damage amounts to more than 1,000 euros.
The Munich traffic police took over the further investigations.

Wearing a bicycle helmet can often prevent head injuries or at least reduce the severity of the injuries. Although the wearing of bicycle helmets is not required by law, the Munich police generally recommends that all cyclists wear appropriate helmets.
490th traffic accident involving a bus; one person seriously injured – Putzbrunn
On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at around 12:15 p.m., a previously unknown driver was driving a car on Mayor-Jakob-Straße in a north-west direction and intended to turn left at the junction with Äußere Ottobrunner Straße.
At the same time, a regular bus was driving north-east on Äußere Ottobrunner Straße and intended to cross the above-mentioned junction straight ahead.
According to the current status of the investigation, the unknown driver turned left at the junction. In order to avoid a collision, emergency braking had to be initiated. As a result, a 73-year-old resident of the Munich district fell with her back against a handlebar and was seriously injured.
She was taken to a hospital by ambulance for treatment.
Other people were not injured.
The unknown driver then continued his journey without fulfilling his legal obligations as a party involved in the accident.
Traffic was only slightly disrupted while the accident was being recorded.
The Munich traffic police took over the further investigations.

491. Arrest of a suspect after an exhibitionist act – Altstadt
On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at around 1:30 p.m., a 39-year-old resident of the Munich district drove a Nissan car on a busy street in Munich’s old town.
When she looked in the slow-moving traffic into the car (Renault car) driving next to her in the same direction, she noticed, like the driver, who was looking for eye contact with her and was performing sexual acts on his genitals.
The 39-year-old drew the attention of a passing police patrol to the incident.
The police patrol was able to stop the driver, a 21-year-old resident of Munich. He was reported for the exhibitionist act. After police action, he was released.
Further investigations are carried out by Commissariat 15 (sexual offences).
