PARIS – The current season is most likely over for Brazilian soccer player Neymar. Attacker of Paris St. Germain is awaiting ankle surgery, which will keep him out of action for approximately four months.
Neymar will miss Wednesday’s Champions League last 16 second leg against Bayern Munich as the French champions look to overturn a 1-0 home defeat.
In addition, he will miss the Parisian team in the next part of the domestic Ligue 1 season, in which the defending champions have an eight-point lead over Olympique Marseille after the 26th round. “I’ll come back stronger,” responded the Brazilian on the social network.

The 31-year-old striker injured his right ankle in a league match against OSC Lille on February 19. He suffered torn ligaments in a fight with Benjamin Andre, who fouled him. Neymar is plagued by problems with his ankle repeatedly.
He was also injured at last year’s WC in Qatar in the opening match against Serbia (2:0). Subsequently, he returned to the “canaries” lineup only in the round of 16 meeting with the Republic of Korea (4:1).
“Neymar has had several injuries to his right ankle in recent years. Following his latest sprain on February 19, medical staff in Paris recommended ligament surgery to avoid a high risk of recurrence.
All experts confirmed this need. The operation will be performed in the coming days at Aspetar Hospital in Doha. His return to training is expected in three to four months,” iinformed the club in a press release.
