The big one will replace the small one – the unpopular iPhone will disappear from Apple’s offer

The iPhone 13 is coming and it has basically leaked in its entirety, which is why our focus is on next year’s phone. Usually, the exact analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has some predictions, and Apple may be planning big changes for next year’s smartphone release. The biggest improvement, according to Kuo, will be the built-in fingerprint reader. The iPhone 14 would be the first Cupertino product to receive Touch ID in the screen. On Android phones that have this feature, scanning works by highlighting the part of the screen where the sensor is located and using an optical or ultrasonic scanner under the glass to read your fingerprint. Experience has shown that this system is not as reliable as a physical scanner, but it is likely Apple will fix the problem.

The big one will replace the small one – the unpopular iPhone will disappear from Apple’s offer

Along with the screen scanner, Apple is said to also want to strengthen the offer with the new Max model. The company introduced a fourth option last year in the form of the tiny iPhone 12 mini, but numerous reports suggest this one isn’t selling like Apple had hoped. While rumors suggest the company will stick to the mini for the iPhone 13, next year’s lineup could go in a different direction with a cheaper 6.7-inch non-Pro Max smartphone. We don’t want small devices, and this is the best example of this.

Apple introduced the Max version with the XS in 2018 and it remained the flagship phone for three generations, up to the 12 Pro Max, with the largest screen ever and better camera features than other models. Kuo says the iPhone 14 lineup will include the cheapest model ever for this size. As predicted, it will have a 6.7-inch display and a price point of less than $ 900. It doesn’t mention anything other than size and price, but it will likely have fewer cameras and features than the Pro version.

The 2022 iPhone line may look something like this when it comes to marketing names: iPhone 14, 14 Max, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max. Kuo says the iPhone 14 Max will represent the lowest price ever for a 6.7-inch smartphone.

Changes to the iPhone 14 camera

Kuo also expects that Apple will radically improve the wide-angle camera on Pro models from 12 MPx on iPhone 12 to 48 MPx. Tim Cook’s company has “stuck” with the 12MP camera for several generations, while the iPhone has been overtaken by its Android counterparts which offer cameras with the highest resolution of 100MP. The iPhone 13 is expected to retain a similar camera with an improved 7-element lens design with a slightly wider aperture.

Kuo’s latest report does not specify what design changes to expect for the “14”. However, it has said in the past that the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will ditch the project from notchem in favor of a new display with a hole similar to the one used in some flagship Android phones.
