Although the arrival of the new BMW M2 was expected this summer, the German carmaker, meanwhile, came up with an update to the regular Series 2, which mainly affected motorization and technology.
A significant novelty is the launch of the weakest 218i four-cylinder petrol engine on the European markets.
The car received an eight-speed automatic with paddles under the steering wheel and its two-liter four-cylinder offers 156 hp and 250 Nm of torque. That’s enough to accelerate to a hundred in 8.7 seconds.
Also new is the launch of the powerful M240i version, which has so far been available in Europe exclusively with xDrive all-wheel drive. In the updated offer, however, it is possible to purchase “two hundred and forty” with rear-wheel drive only.
Without all-wheel drive, however, the car slowed slightly from 0 to 100 km / h, now accelerating in 4.7 seconds.

BMW states that all Series 2 coupes produced from July will come with the iDrive 8 system with curved glass and a 12.3 ″ digital instrument panel and 14.9 ″ infotainment.
Later this year, the M2 version with rear-wheel drive and manual transmission options will actually arrive on the market.
