The cause of a fire in a hypermarket in St. Petersburg could be a short circuit.

However, firefighters do not exclude other versions.

Tape hypermarket on the bypass channel, which is not far from the city center, caught fire in the morning. According to eyewitnesses, at first about 300 square meters were burning. The cause of the fire has not yet been established. According to store employees, the fire started in the department where the vegetable oils are located.
But then the flames spread to the roof and very quickly took almost all 4 thousand square meters. Almost the entire roof collapsed. At the same time a huge column of black and white smoke was visible in other areas. Visitors and store employees managed to evacuate.
12 fire brigades arrived at the scene, who were able to localize the fire in an hour and a half. Rescuers say they fear collapse completely, since the building is built from metal structures that are not resistant to heat.
Management of Emergencies Ministry, as well as temporary governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov came to the burning hypermarket. According to him, the firefighters managed to save the office building next to the burning store. He also did not rule out that Smolny will allocate additional money for the work of the Emergencies Ministry.
We consider several versions of what happened. Among them – a short circuit, as well as negligence in the construction of the building and operation of electrical networks.

Officially, the Emergencies Ministry said that no one was injured as a result of the fire. Earlier, TASS agency reported about one person who was hospitalized at the scene of a fire.
