The chief designer of Battlefield 2042 is leaving DICE

Fawzi Mesmar leaves EA this week, after two years as head of design at DICE. It reports the website VGC.

Since 2019, Mesmar has been a key figure in the work with Battlefield V, Star Wars Battlefront II and Battlefield 2042. The latter has received rave reviews from fans, but this should not be the reason why the chief designer is now leaving his position.

In an internal email sent to EA employees this week, Mesmar says that it was always planned to leave DICE after the launch of Battlefield 2042.

– I have received an offer that I could not say no to another company that has been waiting for me until we released Battlefield 2042. It was very important for me to be here with the team as we reached this historic milestone, Mesmar wrote.

DICE will already have a replacement ready to take over from next week. Who it will be has not yet been confirmed, but apparently the work of fixing Battlefield 2042 will continue without major problems.

On Tuesday, the developer presented a comprehensive plan to introduce heaps of changes and improvements based on feedback from players.

It begins with an update on Thursday, which makes weapons more accurate. Two more updates will be out before the Christmas holidays, but these have not yet been given a date. You can read more about upcoming Battlefield 2042 changes on the game’s website.
