TRIBUNNEWS.COM, KULON PROGO – The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) does not recommend that the South Coast road (Pansela) section between Cilacap to Kebumen be passed by travelers during Eid 2023.
Director of Road Traffic, Directorate General of Land Transportation, Ministry of Transportation, Cucu Mulyana, said that the width of the road was his consideration and did not recommend this section.
“On the Pansela route between Cilacap to Kebumen there are roads that we do not recommend or do not recommend for going home,” he said in Kulon Progo Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Saturday (21/1/2023).
Cucu said that on this segment, there are 15 kilometers of roads that are only 5 meters wide and that will make it difficult for road users when they pass each other.
“Throughout the 15 km road, the width of the road is probably around 5 meters, so if a vehicle passes each other, someone has to stop or step aside first,” he said.
Cucu said that vehicles traveling from the west can use the existing road when they arrive in Cilacap.
“When transportation comes from the west, when it reaches Cilacap, it has to use the existing road. The usual arterial road reaches Kebumen. From Kebumen, you can only enter Pansela again,” said his grandson.
He said he had received information from the Directorate of Highways of the PUPR Ministry that the road was being converted into a national road.
“I have been informed by Bina Marga friends that the road is 15 km long, yes, in my father’s area it is indeed in a position to change its status from a district road to a national road,” he said.
