With the upcoming arrival of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra next July in China, the collaboration between Leica and Xiaomi in the development of the Asian company’s mobile photography will officially begin. Nevertheless, this collaboration will not reach POCO terminals.
The Ultra model will not be the first of many models to benefit from this collaboration. The Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro will be the next ones and they will not take much longer to enter the market, they are also expected to be the first to bring the novelties developed together with Leica to the global market.
Currently the Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO models incorporate sensors developed by Sony or Samsung. These will remain for Redmi, POCO and Xiaomi’s cheaper models, while Leica improvements will remain exclusively for Xiaomi’s high-end and premium range.
This is the reason why POCO models will not be able to benefit from the collaboration of the parent company with Leica, because, although some time ago they wanted to stand out as “independent”, most of their models are mere customizations of Redmi phones.
Redmi also points out that it will suffer the same fate as POCOHowever, your high-end K may finally benefit from Leica’s improvements. Although the affected models may be the most premium that do not come out of China.
