the Court of Appeal and its surroundings evacuated because of a “threat”, the security perimeter has been raised

The neighboring buildings and catering establishments as well as a car park were also evacuated. “We don’t want to take any risks,” police spokesman Wouter Bruyns explained. It would be a bomb threat.

A first search on the scene with a dog revealed negative explosives. Police combed the building and parking lot.

“The threat” came from the court of appeal. Around 70 people who worked there were evacuated.

The security perimeter around the Antwerp Court of Appeal was lifted around 6:10 p.m. Thursday. The excavations gave nothing. The offender is under investigation.
