The “Cyclone bomb” left 10 dead in southern Brazil | Chronicle

Ten people died from the heavy rains and winds that since last tuesday they hit southern Brazil, while an individual is missing.

Among the fatal victims, nine died in the state of Santa Catalina and one in Rio Grande do Sul.

According to the Santa Catarina Governorate, 1.5 million people were without power throughout the state and about a thousand firefighters attended this Wednesday the consequences of the phenomenon, especially the fall of trees.

Last Tuesday, the call “cyclone bomb” -Meteorological phenomenon that causes a rapid drop in atmospheric pressure with heavy rains and winds-, reached 100 kilometers per hour.

Significant damage was recorded in various parts of the state of Santa Catalina, as well as in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. The cyclone also hit Curitiba, capital of the state of Paraná.

On the last Tuesday the cyclone reached 100 kilometers per hour.

This Wednesday morning, they alerted by various tree falls and the sinking of two boats and seven boats who were mooring at a dock in Santos, on the São Paulo coast.
