The Department mobilized for the Tour de France!

The Department is at the rendezvous of this sporting event through the preparation of the road network for the passage of runners and the mobilization of agents. Traffic and parking will be disrupted during the event.

Within the framework of the partnership between the Assembly of the Departments of France and ASO (organizer of the Tour de France), the Department carried out a route recognition to identify the points which require road maintenance intervention, or which are potentially dangerous for the runners.

For the general public, information boards are installed to indicate the times of traffic cut-offs along the route. In parallel, special care is taken on the shoulders by mowing which allows a better comfort to the spectators.

The day before, the road sweeping will be carried out at the most delicate points of the route, as well as thesupply of all necessary equipment. In collaboration with ASO, the agents of the Department will be present from the morning to:

  • prepare the route for cyclists
  • affix with the organizer ASO the specific signage of the Tour de France as well as the temporary signage to close the adjacent lanes
  • install garbage bags at the expected crowds of spectators

They can also intervene at the last minute to solve any problem before the passage of the runners. In total, nearly 100 straw bales will be needed.

23 km of Meuse roads

  • The publicity caravan should circulate between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
  • Arrival of the runners in Meuse around 3:55 p.m. in the town of Thonne le Thil
  • Direction Montmédy around 4:20 p.m. via Thonnelle
  • Finally, the peloton will leave the Meuse after crossing Iré-le-Sec and Marville around 4:30 p.m.

But also traffic constraints

The following sections of the route will be closed to all traffic at 1:00 p.m. maximum until approximately 5:15 p.m. (timings for information only):

  • RD 643 : Section Ardennes – Thonne-le-Thil – Thonnelle – Hamlet of Tivoli
  • RD 110D-110 : Hamlet of Tivoli and Côte des Poiriers
  • RD 947 : from Thonne-les-Près to Montmédy
  • RD 613 : from Montmedy to Marville

No vehicle may use or cross the Tour route, even at a crossroads. From the day before, any parking deemed inconvenient or dangerous will not be tolerated by the police along the route. The circulation of exceptional transport and round timber will also be prohibited on the route all day.

To make the most of this event, we remind you the good gestures of the Tour so that the Grande Boucle remains a party:

Respect the instructions given by law enforcement and flaggers
be careful when you pick up the gifts from the publicity caravan, do not cross the road to retrieve them
Do not run and don’t spray the runners
Step aside as much of the road as possible
Stay behind security barriers if there has
Keep on a leash the domestic animals
Watch your children and take the younger ones by the hand
Respect the eco-responsible dimension of the Tourdo not throw your trash on the ground
Ensure optimal hydrationespecially children and the elderly in case of high temperatures
