The preview began for the celebrations of the Student Day and the authorities of the provincial government as well as the municipalities announced a series of measures tending to guarantee the safety of the young people. To the police operations planned for these days adds a decree of the Municipality of Luján de Cuyo that establishes the prohibition of the sale of alcohol from midnight on September 20 to 10 a.m. on the 22nd in some districts of the department and the permanent presence of a senior manager in houses or cabins occupied by students.
The measure adopted by the Municipality of Luján de Cuyo, through which the sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in the districts of Las Compuertas, Potrerillos, Cacheuta and El Carrizal, aims to guarantee the safety of students by preserving order and the tranquility of the population in anticipation of the celebrations for the Student Day and of Spring. The exceptions to the prohibition apply to authorized restaurants and wineries.
“Alcoholism represents a risk both for those who drink and for third parties, since many traffic accidents occur when driving while intoxicated, in addition to the fact that many young people have had to be admitted to hospitals in an ‘alcoholic coma’. It has been considered the convenience of prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages in shops and consumption on public roads”, highlights the decree signed by Mayor Sebastián Bragagnolo.
On the other hand, the document states that the permanent presence of a responsible adult in the houses or cabins occupied by young people on the occasion of the Student Day celebration and located in the districts mentioned above will be essential and mandatory. As reported by the municipality of Luján de Cuyo, the prohibitions referred to in the decree are in force from 0 am on September 20 until 10 am on the 22nd.
