Relatives of residents of the Orpea residence in Chartres agreed to testify anonymously. “My sister-in-law has been living in this establishment for almost three years. It’s the waltz of the staff. A sexagenarian, who approaches the gates of the establishment, confides with emotion, this Tuesday, February 1:
“Today, I come to see a friend. A few years ago, both my parents lived here. We had come together with other families to denounce certain facts. It was not abuse, but rather neglect. Many times my dad couldn’t eat his snack because he couldn’t grab it from the table and no one noticed. »

premium “The retirement home is still scary”: meeting with Tiffany Catherine, director of the private nursing home La Roseraie in Dreux
The glaring lack of staff in nursing homes, already denounced in Eure-et-Loir in 2018, is still relevant. “Absenteeism varies from 12 to 20% depending on the living areas and nursing homes. We fail to retain staff. Young people come to work for a few months in a retirement home and then go elsewhere. We have to succeed in retaining them”, specifies Denis Gelez.
