The EU and USA are working on new rules for the digital world

Probably the most important result of the EU-US summit on Tuesday will be the establishment of the “Transatlantic Council on Trade and Technology”.

Brussels, Berlin Diplomats in Brussels do not believe in coincidence, not in this delicate matter: they see the fact that shortly before US President Joe Biden’s trip to Europe new details about the NSA’s greed for data and the American eavesdropping on Chancellor Angela Merkel were revealed as a targeted disruptive maneuver.

However, the revelation did not achieve much. Europeans have no interest in warming up an old transatlantic issue. Both sides want to conjure up a new spirit of unity at the EU-US summit in Brussels on Tuesday.

Probably the most important result of the meeting will be the establishment of the “Transatlantic Council on Trade and Technology”, an EU initiative that the Americans have taken up. Europeans and Americans want to coordinate their trade and technology policies “so that democracies and no one else” set the rules of the 21st century, as stated in the draft of the summit declaration.
