The City of Granada Orchestra has premiered this weekend the latest creation by the composer Iluminada Pérez Frutos from Badajoz, ‘I suoni dei corpi celesti’. The concert was held on Friday at the Manuel de Falla Auditorium in Granada and moved on Saturday to the Gran Teatro Falla in Cádiz under the baton of Julio García Vico.

The work, dedicated to health personnel and the Spanish Security Forces and Bodies, is defined as a multisensory creation in which the music is accompanied by an audiovisual creation by Francis López who projects a series of lights and images into the room that allow the viewer plunge into the cosmos.

The title of this orchestral suite refers to the Pythagorean theory that the stars, and specifically the sun, the moon and the planets, when moving in their respective orbits, produced a cosmic sound that made up the so-called music of the spheres.

Pérez Frutos studied at the Badajoz Conservatory of Music and now lives in Granada

Pérez Fruto has explained that in this new composition a synergy between colors and music is established in an attempt to delve into the world of the spectator’s feelings and emotions in what is considered a synesthetic concert.

‘I suoni dei corpi celesti’ marks a new step in the career started by Pérez Frutos, a composer who already received numerous congratulations when in 2018 a 20-minute composition of hers dedicated to the Spanish Constitution premiered at the National Auditorium.

Raised in the city of Badajoz and with family in the town of Cristina (Badajoz), Iluminada received that commission from the Cortes Generales and the premiere in Madrid was attended by their Majesties Kings Felipe and Letizia; the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez; the president of Congress Ana Pastor and the president of the Senate, Pío García Escudero.

Iluminada has a degree in Business Studies from the University of Extremadura, but her passion is music. For this reason, she is a Piano teacher and a senior teacher of Harmony, Counterpoint, Composition and Instrumentation, Guitar, Solfeggio, Music Theory, Transposition and Accompaniment. She began her training at the Badajoz Conservatory of Music and finished her preparation in Granada with the Extraordinary End of Degree Award. She resides there as a teacher.

‘I suoni dei corpi celesti’ is his latest creation but before that he has also made a musical composition for children in which he combines musical forms, colours, textures, timbres and tonalities.
