March 13, IrkutskMedia. The first and only children’s TB sanatorium in the Irkutsk region appeared in Slyudyanka. The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Health of the Angara Territory Oleg Yaroshenko. The new medical facility is a structural unit of the Regional Children’s TB Hospital. The sanatorium was created on the basis of the Slyudyansk regional specialized child’s home. With the re-profiling of the institution, almost all jobs were saved. The institution is fully staffed by medical personnel. In the sanatorium staff there are doctors: a pediatrician, a phthisiatrist, a neurologist, a doctor of ultrasound diagnostics, a functional diagnostician, 19 nurses, 30 nurses and nurses, caring for children. In the staff of the institution, 12 positions of educators have been retained, including a senior educator and a psychologist. Minister of Health of Irkutsk region Oleg Yaroshenko said that for the opening of the sanatorium from the regional budget was allocated 14 million rubles for capital and current repairs. The installation of the ventilation system was carried out, the water supply and drainage system, the heating system were replaced, and all the internal premises of the building were repaired. In addition, 2.5 million rubles were allocated from the regional budget for the purchase of medical furniture and equipment, and another 1.5 million rubles was spent on purchasing soft and hard equipment to staff the institution in accordance with the current procedure for providing assistance to tuberculosis patients.
“Three road maps for improving the provision of specialized medical care for children have been implemented since 2017. The head doctor of the Regional Children’s Tuberculosis Hospital Svetlana Pugacheva told that the first patients will be accepted by the institution on March 14-15. Children in the sanatorium will be assisted by children under 15 from all the territories of the region. It is planned that for the year in the institution, preventive treatment will be carried out by almost 200 children with tuberculosis and at risk for this disease. Opening of the sanatorium will reduce the incidence of tuberculosis in children in the region.
Irkutsk region has become the second region in the Russian Federation after Primorye, where the sanatorium is a structural unit of the children’s tuberculosis hospital. The experience of Primorye showed that the use of stage in the treatment of tuberculosis in children (hospital – sanatorium) can significantly reduce the incidence in this population group.
Reference: Over the past three years in the Irkutsk region, there has been a steady decline in the incidence of tuberculosis in children. In 2015, a diagnosis was made for 108 children under the age of 15 years, in 2016 95 children fell ill, in 2017 – 69 children. In 2017, the incidence rate of children with tuberculosis was 14 per 100,000 children (compared to 2015 – 23.3 per 100,000 children). The average Russian incidence of tuberculosis in 2017 was 12.1 per 100 thousand of the population.
