Just hours after we got our first look at the possible design of the Samsung Z Fold 4, the unofficial renders of its younger brother – Z Flip 4 – have also been leaked over 91 cell phones and OnLeaks. But while the next wrinkle might get a redesigned camera hump, the Z Flip 4’s design looks almost identical to its predecessor. Externally, it still has a two-tone color scheme with dual cameras and a small notifications screen, while there’s still a 6.7-inch foldable screen with a punched selfie in the top center.
This isn’t necessarily a huge surprise, nor is it certainly a bad thing. I followed Samsung The first Z-Flip with almost identical ZFlip 5G Only months later, it has already proved that they like to renew the inside of the folds without changing their external appearance. Since then we’ve been very impressed with last year’s Z Flip 3 (“The first foldable phone for ordinary people”) A design overhaul doesn’t seem necessary, although we haven’t said no to a slightly larger external display.
If Samsung plans the next Z Flip as a spec boost, let’s hope its specs actually get a good boost. The rear cameras are in dire need of improvement as they were both 12MP last time around, when the relatively inexpensive Galaxy S flagships had 50MP+ main sensors. Expect an official announcement in August when Samsung follows the same schedule as last year.
