The police are investigating the death of a 17-year-old girl who was found next to a car near the Belfast City Hospital on Sunday morning.
They associate death with a car accident in Castlereagh.
A silver Mercedes was found on its roof near the roundabout on Ballygowan Road near the intersection with Manse Road in Castlereagh at around 2:30. An injured man was later found and taken to hospital for treatment
Later at about 3 am, Ambulance Service announced that she had found the girl on the floor next to a gray MG car on the grounds of the hospital on Lisburn Road, near the entrance. She was declared dead at the scene and an autopsy is to be performed to find out how she died.
The discovery triggered a major police incident. Policemen and forensic teams spent most of the morning in the hospital examining the scene.
Chief Inspector Michael Gregg said, "Our investigation is still at an early stage, but we believe there is a connection between the collision on Ballygowan Road near the intersection with Manse Road and the discovery of the teenager's body. I have a number of appeals that have to be filed this evening.
"Were you in the area of Manse Road / General Ballygowan between 1 and 2:30 this morning? Have you seen a car that matches the description of the silver Mercedes? Have you seen the collision? Do you have any more in the aftermath? Vehicles seen? The collision including a gray MG?
"If you were traveling at these times, please think back to what you may have seen, it is important that we can track the movement of the vehicle in question to see what has happened.
"I also want to appeal to anyone who was in the Belfast City Hospital / Lisburn Road area of the city this morning and saw a gray MG calling us who and where from.
"If you have any information about the collision or the circumstances of the death of this young girl whom you believe could help in our investigation, please take the call and call the non-emergency number 101 with reference number 227 of 24 on. " I would also encourage anyone who may have taken shots of the collision at Manse Road or Gray MG in the City Hospital area to call us. "
"Alternatively, information can also be provided by calling the independent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
The Ballygowan Road was temporarily closed, but has since reopened.
