The forgotten fashion of glove perfume should be emphasized. In the 16th and 17th centuries, perfumed gloves were very popular with the social elite in Europe. As a fashionable luxury item, they were worn by women and men alike. Fragrances made from plant and animal essences masked both the often strong smell of the tanned leather and the unpleasant body odors of the wearer. A selection of the fragrances used for this purpose can be sniffed at a fragrance station in the exhibition.

Since the number of participants is limited, the German Leather Museum asks you to register by telephone on (069)8297980 or by email to [email protected] Participation in the guided tour including admission costs 10 euros per person.
