15 mars 2023

The President of the Republic, HE Ali Bongo Ondimba will take part in the 15th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC), which will be held on March 17, 2023, in Yaoundé, in the Republic of Cameroon, under the theme “Make CEMAC, in 2025, an integrated and emerging economic space, where security, solidarity and good governance reign, at the service of human development”.

The issues on the agenda of the Summit relate to the conclusions of the reflection on the CFA Franc in the CEMAC Zone, to the ongoing reforms of the CEMAC, and to the financing of the Community by the Community Integration Tax (TCI) , among other topics.

The Summit will also be an opportunity for the Presidents of Congo and Cameroon to present their respective communications on the CEMAC Economic and Financial Reform Program (PREF-CEMAC) and on the file of the rationalization of the Regional Economic Communities of Central Africa.

As usual, the Heads of State will examine the reports of the CEMAC Organs as listed in their Agenda.

The Summit will also proceed with the renewal of the most senior officials of internal CEMAC bodies and institutions, in accordance with the principle of rotation by alphabetical order of Member States instituted on January 17, 2010 in Bangui, Central African Republic.

At the end of this Summit, there will be a handover between HE Paul Biya, President of the Republic of Cameroon, President-in-Office of CEMAC and HE Faustin Archange Touadera, President of the Central African Republic.

As a reminder, this 15th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State follows the various Extraordinary Summits which were held in 2019 and 2021 in Cameroon, and which dealt respectively with the economic and monetary situation in the CEMAC zone, as well as the macroeconomic situation in CEMAC and recovery measures.
